In a July 2005 interview in Tupelo, Mississippi
Frank Kyle Spain Used "front loader washer"
to describe this CBS color TV set.

Stanton

75th Anniversary Special Edition,
Supplement to Broadcasting & Cable,
May 22, 2006

Caption reads: "Half a century ago, legendary
CBS exec Frank Stanton presented an example for broadcasting's future, the color television." This photo is from the magazine's Don West Collection in the Library of American Broadcasting at University of Maryland. Don West, former editor-in-chief of the publication, is now prez of the famous Library that started at the National Association of Broadcasters, Washington.
West is former assistant to Stanton at CBS.
Dr. Foote says that the picture is more like
57 or 58 years old, since that would make it
part of the CBS effort to get it's color
standard adopted by the FCC. UNA Professor believes B&C rounded
the photo's age to 50 years.

The field sequential color camera developed by CBS sits on top of the color television set. Stanton's elbow rests on the camera.

Stanton's executive summary in the 1940-41 Variety Radio Directory, page 136, gives family information after listing his title at CBS: "Director of Research, Columbia Broadcasting System, New York City. Born in Muskegon Mich., March 20, 1908; son of Helen J. Schmidt and Frank C. Stanton; attended . . . ." On page 137 the bio summary continues shown in the image below.
